Osteoarthritis of the metatarsal phalangeal joint
Illustrations 1 & 2 • Cheilectomy and exostoses removal
When wear and tear at the first metatarsal phalangeal joint is not severe, it suffices to remove exostoses and perform a cheilectomy.
This procedure is performed on an out-patient basis and lasts 20 minutes. With a special post-op shoe which offloads the forefeoot, immediate weight-bearing is possible.
